Surrey Glasshouse Wedding Inspiration
This shoot took place at Somersbury Barn, a beautiful newly restored oak framed barn nestled in the idyllic Surrey countryside. This gorgeous venue complete with a stunning Victorian glasshouse became the initial inspiration.
Using various tones of periwinkle as a base colour palette we wanted to create a fresh, natural and whimsical vibe celebrating the warmer months with the joy of sunshine, blue skies and light.
Flowers are a dominant feature across all elements from the tablescape and ceremony through to the dress, cake and stationery.
Floral designer Hellebore and Rose created delicate and romantic arrangements including wild bluebells and seasonal flowers from her cutting garden. The colours reflect a natural wildflower palette which is softened with hints of tenderness in the luxury dusky pink roses.
Bud vases complement the delicate flowers for the wedding breakfast and together the bridal florals create the perfect inspiration for a wild and whimsical wedding day.
In order to add real impact we opted for a show stopping original bridal gown designed by Felicity Westmacott. The wisteria dress is made from hand-dyed tulle in graduating shades of blue. The cupped bodice is appliquéd with wisteria flowers cascading onto the skirt and the train extends from the shoulders in soft drapes creating a beautiful sense of movement.
To create some contrast we wanted to give each of our brides their own identity; the second outfit is a stunning ivory silk satin ‘Evie’ two piece set with cropped low back top and split leg trousers. A pop of bright pink for the back ties was added to echo the colours in the embroidered ‘wild flower’ belt, a colour which is also matched in the cerise dried flower buds of the tablescape.
The flowers continue to be the star of the show in the hand painted satin shoes by The Pretty Wedding Shoe Company. Two brides dressed for summer breezes!
The tablescape is styled with a sense of laidback luxury; the gold accents balance with the more rustic natural touches supported by gorgeous soft table linens by The Knotted Napkin Company.
Stationery is provided by The Amyverse and mirrors all the other elements with a stunning wisteria illustration which blooms with vibrant shades of lavender, lilac and soft greens. The hand-lettered modern calligraphy details are both timeless and contemporary.
The cake by Laura’s Pantry is a white tiered cake with floral accents showcasing her sugar flowers. It includes clusters of handmade purple roses, delicate sweet pea blossoms and sprigs of lavender in varying shades of purple to create an ombre effect, reminiscent of a cottage garden in bloom.
Showcased as part of a laidback, intimate seating area as well as part of a dessert table in the light and airy glasshouse we wanted to show the diversity and styling options that can be used to show off a wonderful wedding cake.
Planned and styled by Lucy Wells Weddings and assisted by The Surrey Wedding Company who supplied many of the props, this styled shoot aims to transport you to a tranquil garden in full bloom.
What an absolute dream!
