Sheriff Hutton Castle Wedding Inspiration
Gothic Lux at Sheriff Hutton Castle
An ethereal ancient castle shoot inspired by the haunting mystic of medieval history.
Shot at Sheriff Hutton Castle – once one time the grandest castle in Northern England, the location of this shoot is steeped in over 600 years of royal history.
A once favourite residence of Richard III and Henry VIII, we wanted a haunting regal theme to be a strong undercurrent of this shoot.
The Sounding Hall – licensed for 56 guests – is a focal point in the shoot.
Utilising a black metal arch to form the ceremony space, the floral design by @IntoTheMeadow_Wildflowers evoked that of an overgrown ruin. We wanted the florals to look as if they were wildly growing within the castle walls, as the ivy does naturally on the outer walls.
The photography style by Roxxie of Bee Wilde added to the rich feel with a dreamlike twist.
Utilising the minimal natural light coming into the space, Roxxie was able to capture the natural, bohemian beauty of Betti and Afnan of Wildflower Couple.
Using the Sounding Room to create a reception space, Limelight Wedding Emporium took influences from a medieval banquet to create an enchanted tablescape of tall elegant taper candles and flowing table runners.
The overall feel is rich and haunting – completely deserved of an ancient castle ruin.
The bouquet very much reflected this earthly theme, emphasized even more by Betti’s flowing bohemian wedding gowns provided by @stephanie_moran_couture.
The style of Afnan’s suit is a little more refined, with a contemporary white tux provided by @fallenherostore adding to his overall stately charm.
The bespoke crowns created by @scarlettandwolfeheadwear emphasised Afnan’s King-like role, while Betti very much reflected a wild, beautiful pagan Queen.
The second part of the shoot took place within Sheriff Hutton Courtyard. It is large and spacious, with high crumbling castle walls. The overall feel of this section of the shoot is much more relaxed and freer.
Overall, the shoot oozes a sensual, dreamlike vibe. It is both classically timeless with a modern, fantastical twist.
Oh so dreamy!
